Hi Kelly,

Yes, I try to base my articles on peer-reviewed articles that appear in Pubmed. And contrary to what some people think when they first see this site, few of them are Marshall's articles. It's a good sign that many scientists other than Marshall himself are conducting research that supports or adds to the Marshall Pathogenesis.

How do I get the full text of the articles I reference? I'm lucky because my boyfriend is a medical librarian. So because of his job, he has free access to all the full text articles available at the University he works for and get me the articles I need. If his University does not have a specific article, he can get it via inter-library loan.

So unfortunately you can't access the full text of many of the articles I cite unless you can find a connection like my boyfriend! But I will email you the full text of the article discussed in this piece when I finish writing this message.

Happily, the federal government just recently passed a law mandating that medical researchers receiving federal funds have to publish the full text of their articles in the free online resource Pubmed Central, doing so within one year of the original publication date.

So that means that in the comming months you are going to be able to access many more full text articles. It only makes sense that if public funds are used to conduct medical research than the public should have access to the results their money enables.

Best,

Amy

Amy, I appreciate how you reference unbiased third-party studies. I went to the PubMed article and could only see the abstract. I'm interested in knowing what ways I can get the full articles of the articles you reference.

Thanks so much.
